Welcome to TaleSmith. By accessing or using our interactive storytelling platform at talesmith.net (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.
The Service
TaleSmith is an interactive storytelling platform that uses artificial intelligence to generate narrative content. The Service allows you to create, play, and share interactive stories and scenarios. TaleSmith is provided free of charge and is offered "as is" without guarantees of availability or uptime.
Your Account
To use the Service, you must sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account and use the Service.
User-Generated Content
You retain ownership of the content you create on TaleSmith, including stories, scenarios, and characters. By using the Service, you grant us a limited licence to store and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
You are responsible for the content you create. You may share your content with others using the sharing features provided, in which case it becomes viewable to anyone with the link.
AI-Generated Content
Story content generated by AI is created in real-time and may be unpredictable. While we make reasonable efforts to ensure quality, we do not guarantee the accuracy, appropriateness, or quality of AI-generated content. AI-generated content should not be taken as factual information, professional advice, or representative of our views.
Prohibited Use
You may not use the Service for any unlawful purpose. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Creating sexual content involving minors
- Generating content that promotes violence, terrorism, or hatred against individuals or groups
- Attempting to produce content that violates any applicable laws or regulations
- Circumventing safety measures or content filters
- Using the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others
- Interfering with or disrupting the Service or its infrastructure
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately if we determine that you have violated these Terms.
Third-Party AI Services
TaleSmith uses third-party AI services to generate story content. By default, the Service uses Anthropic's Claude API, and your use is subject to Anthropic's Terms of Service. If you select an alternative AI model, the terms of service of that provider apply as well.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Service complies with the applicable AI provider's terms and usage policies.
Fair Use
TaleSmith is free to use and we want everyone to enjoy it as much as possible. To ensure a good experience for all users, we ask that you use the Service reasonably.
In rare cases of excessive use that impacts the Service for others, we reserve the right to restrict access. If this ever becomes necessary, we will contact you first to discuss the situation before taking any action.
Intellectual Property
The TaleSmith name, logo, and the design and functionality of the Service are the property of TaleSmith. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, TaleSmith shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. You may stop using the Service at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the updated Terms on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
