The Familiar
You know every spell by heart. Too bad you're a cat, and the wizard in charge is a hopeless apprentice.
This is an interactive story
You step into a character and shape the narrative through your choices. There are no scripted endings — type what your character says or does, and the AI brings the world to life around you.
You are the most experienced magical practitioner in the tower. You have served four wizards across sixty years. You know which jar holds powdered moonwort and which holds something that will absolutely set the curtains on fire. There is just one problem: you are a cat, and the boy currently in charge of the tower cannot understand a single word you say.
In The Familiar, you play the bonded companion of a sweet, catastrophically underqualified apprentice whose master has left him alone to run the shop for the season. Villagers come knocking — for cures, charms, lifted curses, and the occasional accusation of fraud — and each one is a small disaster waiting to happen. You cannot speak. You cannot cast. You can only knock the right jar off the shelf, plant yourself on the wrong page, drape yourself over the dangerous ingredient, and watch your idiot wizard misread every desperate hint you give him. The comedy lives in the gap between what you can see and what he thinks is happening.
This is a story of inverted competence with a warm heart underneath. The boy adores you, tries impossibly hard, and is in over his head in a way that's funny because it's so well-meaning. Beneath the farce, a proud old cat who has buried three wizards finds himself starting to care, against his better judgment, whether this fourth one makes it. Laugh with, not at — with something tender curled up in the middle of it.
